Why alternative addresses exist at all

Access to any site is not equally reliable in every place at every moment. An internet provider may filter a particular domain, a DNS record may lag behind a change, or the domain itself may be in the middle of a move. An alternative address — commonly called a mirror — is the technical answer to that availability problem, and to nothing else.

It is worth being clear about what it does not do. Territorial rules are untouched by it. Where a platform does not accept players from a country, a second address accepts them no better, and verification will close the account regardless of which door was used.
